Can sesame be grown hydroponically?

Sesame is an annual upright herb and one of the main oil crops in my country. It has a long history and high application value. Sesame is generally grown in soil, but because it needs a lot of water every moment during its growth period, it can also be grown in water. Sesame grown in water can be grown at a higher density.

Methods and key points of sesame hydroponic cultivation

1. First, prepare a plastic cup and sew a layer of mesh at the mouth of the cup, but be careful not to make it too dense.

2. Place a piece of paper towel on the net and pour enough water on it to wet the paper towel.

3. Pour the sesame seeds evenly on a wet paper towel, add a few drops of nutrient solution and appropriate amount of water.

4. Keep spraying water on the seeds every day to allow them to germinate better.

5. After sprouts appear, quickly separate the plants and expose them to light.

Precautions for growing sesame in water

1. Water quality: You can choose purified water or tap water. In winter, the water should be left to stand for a period of time (usually overnight) to ensure that the water temperature is consistent with the room temperature. Add nutrient solution in proportion when using.

2. Amount of water: Do not use too much water, just make sure the paper towel is moist.

3. Change the water: Generally, change the water every 5 days. When changing the water, remember to remove the withered and rotten roots, otherwise it will affect the growth of sesame.

4. During the hydroponic period of sesame, make sure it has sufficient light.
