How to deal with Kalanchoe after it blooms? How to prune after it withers

Post-flowering treatment of Kalanchoe

1. Pruning after flowering

After the Kalanchoe blooms, the withered flowers and leaves need to be cut off in time, leaving only two or three leaves on the branches. This can avoid consuming too much nutrients and promote the growth of the plant.

2. Proper shading

The flowering period of Kalanchoe is in summer, so it needs to be shaded in time after flowering. Never let the plant be exposed to direct sunlight to avoid sunburn.

3. Water and fertilizer management

After the Kalanchoe has finished blooming, it will be relatively weak, so be sure to control the amount of watering and do not allow water to accumulate in the soil. Also, replenish nutrients to the plant in time, and apply a small amount of compound fertilizer.

How to grow Kalanchoe

Kalanchoe can only bloom once a year, from December of each year to April of the following year. The flowering period lasts for a long time. The flower colors include white, orange, yellow, pink, red, etc. During the flowering period, it is necessary to pay attention to controlling the temperature and light.

1. Temperature

Kalanchoe can only grow flower buds in a warm environment. The most suitable growth temperature is 15-25℃. Only by controlling the temperature reasonably can the plant grow normally.

2. Lighting

Kalanchoe has relatively high requirements for light. If the light is less than four hours a day, it will not bloom, so it needs to be placed in a location with sufficient light for maintenance.
