What vegetables are suitable for planting in the second half of the year?

The second half of the year is generally after autumn, when the weather is cool and suitable for growing vegetables. As long as you pay attention to the management of pests and diseases and choose some cold-resistant ones, you will be fine.

There are still many vegetables that can be planted in the second half of the year, such as lettuce, lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, coriander, cabbage, autumn celery, overwintering spinach, loofah, broad beans, peppers, leeks, cabbage, etc.

1. Coriander

Coriander is relatively cold-resistant and likes to grow in a cool climate, so it is a very good idea to plant coriander in the second half of the year to winter. In addition, the growth time of coriander is relatively short and it can be harvested in one month.

2. Celery

Celery is less cold-resistant than other vegetables. Its suitable temperature is generally around 20 degrees. It grows relatively fast. Potted celery can mature faster because only the young seedlings are edible.

3. Leek

Chives are very simple to grow and are a cold-resistant vegetable. They can survive the winter successfully in most areas of northern my country. It is also okay to plant them in the second half of the year, and they can be harvested multiple times after being planted once.

4. Lettuce

The most suitable growth temperature for lettuce is around 20 degrees, and sub-zero temperatures will not have any effect. When planting lettuce in the open field, you need to pay attention to ensuring good light to avoid insufficient light in the growing environment, which will affect the growth of lettuce leaves.

5. Spinach

Spinach can tolerate temperatures as low as minus 8 degrees Celsius. A cool growing environment is more conducive to the growth of spinach. Direct seed sowing can be used. No germination work is required before sowing. The soil should be loose, fertile and deep.
