Durian seeds can be planted, and they will sprout quickly in warm areas . Note that if you want to plant them, it is best to choose plump, high-quality durians, so that the germination rate of the seeds will be higher. When planting, you can soak it in water for 2-3 days, and then plant it in a flowerpot after it sprouts.

Durian can be grown from durian seeds, but it must be grown in tropical areas . It has a strong regional characteristic and can be easily grown in tropical areas, but it is generally difficult to bear fruit in places outside of tropical climates.

How to plant durian seeds in pots

1. Processing the core

Wash the durian core with clean water, making sure not to leave any pulp to prevent rot. Place it in a cool and ventilated place to dry, then soak it in water for 24 hours. While soaking, you can gently cut the outside of the durian core a little bit, so that in about three days you can see tender buds slowly sprouting.

2. Plant in pots

Prepare a large flowerpot, fill it 80% with soil, water it thoroughly, choose nutrient-rich, loose and breathable humus soil, mix in some large sand particles to meet the soil permeability requirements, plant the germinated durian core in the soil with the bud point facing down and the sprout facing up, and cover with a thin layer of soil.

3. Post-maintenance

Usually, place it in a warm and well-ventilated place for maintenance, and ensure sufficient light during the growth period, which can effectively increase its growth rate. Apply a little thin fertilizer and water every half a month to supplement nutrients. When watering, just keep the soil slightly moist, and there is no need to water it frequently.

Durian fruit

It takes about 4-8 years for durian to bear fruit. Different durian varieties bear fruit at different times, and some only take 4-5 years to bear fruit. In addition, the time when durian bears fruit is also affected by local climate, maintenance and management and other factors. The maturity time is from November to February of the following year.
