How to grow azaleas better and more vigorously? How to grow potted azaleas at home

We usually buy rhododendrons with pots, and some even with flowers. However, after the flowers wither at home, the leaves turn yellow and the plants fall off, and some even dry up the entire plant. At this time, the rhododendrons cannot be repotted as it can easily damage the roots. They also need sufficient nutrients. Do not expose them to the sun during flowering and keep the soil moist so that they can continue to bloom.

Key points for azalea cultivation

Because azalea is a southern flower, it likes loose, breathable and slightly acidic soil. When preparing the soil, you can add a layer of pine needle soil to make the soil slightly acidic. It also prefers light, but not strong exposure to sunlight. It is necessary to properly block half of the light. In other seasons, you can give it more light, which is conducive to flowering.

Rhododendron is afraid of drought and even more afraid of waterlogging, so we have to water it with our hands. It is best to water it when the soil is dry to two or three centimeters. During the growing season, apply a full range of fertilizers once every 10 days or so.

Be careful to apply fertilizer thinly. Apply fertilizer one month before flowering to promote the differentiation of flower buds. Supplement the iron in the soil every one or two months to make the soil slightly acidic.

Azalea maintenance points

The root system of azalea is very weak. If you water it when the indoor ventilation is not good, it is likely to have dry leaves, fallen leaves, and falling flower buds. Do not change the flowerpot before it blooms, and do not damage the root system. Put it in a place with sufficient light to bask in the sun, and then change the pot after it finishes blooming.

You can often spray water around its leaves to increase the air humidity. Ventilation after watering is very important. Ventilation can make the soil surface alternate between dry and wet. Dry pot soil allows its roots to breathe well. If the roots cannot breathe well, they are prone to rot. Also, do not place the azalea near cold air outlets, air conditioners, heaters, etc.
