Time and method of changing soil in jade tree

Time to change the soil in Yushu

The soil of jade plant should be changed in spring every year, and the approximate time can be chosen around March or April. It has a strong growth ability, so the soil can be changed basically from spring to early autumn, and it will grow well.

How to repot and change the soil of jade plant

Stop watering the jade plant 1-2 days before repotting to allow the soil to dry and shrink, making it easier to remove the plant from the pot. After the plant is removed, remove about one-third of the old soil and retain the soil near the roots to help the plant adapt to the pot. Prepare new culture soil that is slightly acidic, breathable, and well-drained, and add a small amount of decomposed bean cake as base fertilizer.

Precautions for changing soil for jade tree

When changing the soil of jade plant, you need to pay attention to not having too much soil in the pot, and the height should be at least one centimeter lower than the pot to prevent water from overflowing from the pot when watering. If the temperature is around ten degrees after changing the soil, do not water it, otherwise it will cause root rot.

Soil : When changing the soil for jade plants, make sure to use soil with good weighting, such as half river sand mixed with half nutrient soil. Never use only very loose nutrient soil, as its crown will be relatively large and it will easily fall over.

Base fertilizer : After repotting the jade plant, you need to fertilize it. At this time, you can use base fertilizer, and decomposed organic fertilizer is better. When it enters the growth period, you also need to apply top dressing to provide it with sufficient fertilizer for better growth. Generally, 2-3 times a month will be enough.

Maintenance method of jade tree after soil change

1. See the sun : Jade plant cannot be exposed to direct sunlight after the soil is changed. It needs to be placed in a cool place for a few days and then exposed to sunlight after it adapts to the new planting environment.

2. Sun exposure : After the soil of the jade plant is changed, it should be placed in a cool and ventilated place for maintenance. Normal care can be carried out one week after the repotting. The weather in spring is relatively mild. The plant can be exposed to the sun appropriately after it is repotted. If the sun is too strong at noon, it should not be exposed to the sun.

3. Watering : If the jade plant has just had its soil changed, it does not need to be watered. Because it has just been repotted, it will be damaged to varying degrees. At this time, you must wait a few days before watering it.

4. Yellowing leaves : The leaves of jade plant turn yellow after being repotted because the flower roots are separated from the original soil, destroying the original structure. It takes some time to recover. In addition, this situation can also occur if the light is too strong. Appropriate light is needed.
