The best time and technique for transplanting strawberries

Strawberry is a sweet and sour fruit that is very popular among consumers in the fruit market. It is also a common fruit crop grown by farmers. Strawberries are widely grown in both the north and south of my country. Transplanting and planting is a very important link in strawberry planting. The time and method of transplanting will directly determine the survival and later growth of strawberries.

Strawberry transplanting time

Generally, the time for transplanting strawberries is around September to October every year. It is generally recommended to transplant them on cloudy days or after 5 pm, because the temperature during this period is relatively low. If strawberries are transplanted in high temperature weather, the transplanted strawberry seedlings may not grow new roots, and may even die due to high temperatures.

Strawberry Transplanting Technology

1. Planting

The transplanting technology used for strawberry transplanting is usually upright planting. Vertical planting means that the hole during transplanting is perpendicular to the ground. When transplanting, the strawberry seedlings are inserted upright into the hole dug in advance. At this time, you need to pay attention to the planting depth. Planting should not be too deep, otherwise the heart of the seedling will be buried in the soil, causing rot and death of the seedling. It should not be too shallow, either, otherwise the roots and stems will be exposed and the new stems will be sunburned, which will easily cause the seedlings to dry up and die.

2. Slant planting:

Oblique planting is also one of the methods of planting strawberries. The specific method of oblique planting is to dig the soil into 15 cm deep triangular grooves, one side of which is upright and the other side is inclined. Then plant the roots of the strawberries, and then bury the strawberry roots with soil. At this time, the strawberry seedlings do not need to be planted upright, just point the arch of the strawberry towards the ridge.

Management of strawberry transplants

The first thing to pay attention to after transplanting strawberries is the temperature and humidity. The temperature must be maintained at around 24℃ to 28℃ and not higher than 30℃. The humidity should be kept below 75%. The second thing to pay attention to is the issue of fertilization. After transplanting strawberries, generally fertilize 2 to 3 times before and after covering the ground film.
