Diseases of Prunus mume and their solutions

Diseases of Prunus mume and their solutions

powdery mildew

Symptoms

When the disease first occurs, there are small yellow spots on the surface of the leaves, which then gradually expand and become spots, and are covered with whitish powder. Generally speaking, there are more yellow spots on the bottom of the leaves than on the top, and on the back of the leaves, so it is easy to not see them at first.

Prevention and control measures

15% triadimefon wettable powder 1000 times diluted, 70% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder 1000 to 1500 times diluted, 75% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder 600 times diluted.

Once every 7 to 10 days, spray 2 to 3 times in a row.

Brown spot, leaf punch and dieback

Brown spot disease

Leaf spot is a fungal disease that starts from the lower leaves and continues to infect the top in the early stages. At first, the spots are round or oval, and then they gradually turn black. The spots are very easy to see because the boundary between the spots and the leaves is very clear.

Symptoms of leaf punch disease

At first, small light brown spots appear on the leaves, surrounded by yellow rings. Basically, there will be an inconspicuous serrated border between the diseased area and the healthy area, which will eventually become empty, so it is also called leaf perforation disease.

Symptoms of deadwood disease

The affected branches will gradually die, so it is called dead branch disease.

Prevention and treatment methods

500 to 1000 times diluted 50% carbendazim wettable powder, 500 times diluted 75% thiophanate-methyl, 500 times diluted 80% mancozeb, 1000 to 1200 times diluted 70% thiophanate-methyl.

Spray once every 7 to 10 days, for a total of 3 to 4 times.
