Loquat cultivation methods and precautions

Loquat cultivation methods and precautions

1. Maintenance methods

1. Flower pot selection: Loquat is a relatively tall plant with deep roots, so choose a larger flower pot when growing it at home. The depth of the flowerpot should be around 30cm so that its growth will not be affected by growth space issues.

2. Temperature management: Loquat requires a higher temperature during its growth process. Generally speaking, it can grow at 10°C, but the optimal growth temperature should be around 20°C.

3. Water management: It is suitable for growing in a relatively humid environment. When planted in pots, keep the soil in the pot moist. In summer, you should increase the frequency of watering appropriately and combine it with spraying water to make the surrounding air more humid.

4. Nutrient management: Organic fertilizer is the main fertilizer used, and potassium fertilizer should be used together with it when fruiting. In the week before and after fruit picking, organic fertilizer can be used together with appropriate nitrogen fertilizer.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Shelter from rain: Loquat fruits go through a rapid expansion period to maturity, and some varieties are prone to cracking. The main reason is heavy rain, so for the sake of the fruit yield, we can choose artificial shelter to avoid it.

2. Summer: High temperatures above 30°C in summer will affect the growth of plants and the development of fruits, so in the midsummer season, water should be sprayed to cool down.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Pests: For diseases and pests of potted loquats, ventilation and drainage should be the main prevention and control measures. When minor insect infestations are found, they can be brushed off with a small woolen tool. When the infestation is widespread, a small amount of 0.5-0.9% Bordeaux liquid can be sprayed.

2. Leaf dropping: The possible reason for loquat tree leaf dropping is excessive watering, which causes waterlogging of the roots. Remove the plant from the growing medium and cut off any rotten roots. Then replant it in loose soil and keep it ventilated until it recovers.

IV. Other issues

1. Is it edible? Yes, the fruit of the loquat tree is a common edible fruit.

2. Can it be exposed to rain: It can be exposed to rain, but the drainage of the soil should be checked during the rainy season to avoid excessive water accumulation and root rot.
