How long does it take for lucky bamboo cuttings to take root? Methods and steps for cuttings

Rooting time of lucky bamboo cuttings

Generally speaking, lucky bamboo can be propagated by cuttings throughout the year. The best time is January-February or March-April. In early spring, lucky bamboo can take root quickly by cuttings.

Usually, lucky bamboo will take root after being grown in water at home for about 15 days. Its roots are very developed and short, but they will gradually grow longer over time.

How to root lucky bamboo by cuttings

When lucky bamboo is being propagated through cuttings, its growth temperature should be controlled at around 15°C. Temperatures that are too low or too high will affect its normal growth. When tiny sprouts appear, change the water frequently, every 3 days. Try to use overnight water or boiled and cooled water so that it can absorb nutrients.

After cuttings, if there is insufficient nutrients, the branches and leaves will turn yellow. You can add appropriate amounts of vitamins to the water so that the lucky bamboo can take root quickly.

How to propagate lucky bamboo by cuttings

1. Cut branches

When taking cuttings of lucky bamboo in spring, you should choose healthy and disease-free branches for cuttings according to the growth status of the lucky bamboo. At the same time, after cutting, place them in a cool environment. Finally, apply rooting agent on the wounds of the branches and wait for cuttings.

2. Matrix selection

When choosing the substrate for cuttings, use leaf mold, garden soil and river sand, mix them in proportion to form a well-drained and breathable soil. At the same time, you can add coconut bran to the soil for nutritional supplements to make the lucky bamboo grow better.
