What to do if the leaf tips of Areca palm are dry and burnt

What to do if the leaf tips of Areca palm are dry and burnt

The air is too dry

Areca palm prefers relatively high air humidity. When growing it, if the air is relatively dry, the leaf tips will easily become dry and burnt, and the edges will appear burnt.

During the growth period, the air humidity of the Areca palm needs to be maintained at a high level. The leaves and surrounding areas of the Areca palm need to be sprayed with water every day to increase the air humidity. However, please note that watering should be stopped when the plant is dormant.

Too much sunlight

When growing Areca palm, it is necessary to maintain appropriate light for it. The light in summer is relatively strong, so it is best to grow the Areca palm in a semi-shaded environment. Excessive light or direct sunlight will cause the tips or edges of the leaves of the Areca palm to become burnt. Therefore, in summer, it is best to avoid direct sunlight on the Areca palm, place it in semi-shade and pay attention to shade.

The soil is too dry

Too little watering causes the soil in the pot to become too dry, which is also a reason why the leaf tips of the Areca palm dry up. During the growth period of Areca palm, it is necessary to ensure that there is sufficient moisture. If the soil in the pot is dry for a long time, it will be difficult for the plant to absorb sufficient moisture, causing the tip of its leaves to dry out, so be sure to water it in moderation.

The soil is too wet

Relatively speaking, the soil in the pot of Areca palm should not be too moist. Once too much water is given during the cultivation process, the soil in the pot will be too moist and water will accumulate, which will hinder the breathing of the roots and cause root rot. The plant will also suffer from water shortage inside, which will cause the tips of its leaves to dry out.

Too concentrated fertilizer

Fertilization that is too concentrated will mainly lead to a root burn problem. Problems will occur with the roots and the plant will lose water. In mild cases, it will cause the leaf tips to dry out, and in severe cases, it will cause root rot. Therefore, when fertilizing the Areca palm, pay attention to the concentration and it is better to use thin fertilizer.

In addition, if you grow Areca palm indoors in winter, it is best to avoid air conditioning and heating to prevent the plants from being scorched.
