How to prepare the soil for growing flowers and how to prepare the nutrient soil for growing flowers

Soil preparation requirements for growing flowers

The choice of soil for flower cultivation is very particular. Generally, flower cultivation requires the soil to have a certain fertility, a pH value suitable for plant growth, and good physical and chemical properties.

Therefore, when preparing flower soil, you must take into account both water retention and drainage. It should be rich in humus and have excellent air permeability and drainage. Such soil will not form lumps or become compacted after watering, and will not crack when dry.

How to prepare soil for growing flowers

1. Ordinary flowers have low requirements for planting soil, and only need loose soil. Daily preparation is based on volume according to 5 parts of leaf mold, 2 parts of garden soil and 2 parts of river sand.

2. For flowers that are suitable for growing in an acidic environment, such as jasmine, camellia, osmanthus, etc., when preparing the soil, you can use leaf mold, peat soil, sawdust and bone meal in a ratio of 4:4:1:1. Acidic soil can promote the growth of these plants.

3. For flowers that like to grow in an alkaline environment, such as cacti, pomegranates, chrysanthemums and other flowers, the soil needed for planting can be made of humus, garden soil, river sand and gravel in a ratio of 2:3:4:1.

Precautions for preparing soil for growing flowers

The flower soil you prepare yourself is prone to breeding insect eggs and bacteria, so after preparing the flower soil and before planting, you need to sterilize the flower culture soil, and use methods such as high temperature exposure and drug treatment to reduce the chance of diseases and pests in the later stage.
