Suitable time for planting baby cabbage

There are currently several common types of baby cabbage cultivation, and the planting times are also different. If planted indoors in spring, it is directly sown in January to early March. If planted outdoors in spring, it is sown in May. If planted outdoors in summer and autumn, it is August. If planted indoors in autumn and winter, it is September to November.

1. Variety selection

There are many varieties of baby cabbage, but they are mainly divided into two types. We should choose varieties with better cold resistance for sowing, such as Korean baby cabbage, pearl baby cabbage, etc. If sowing in summer, we must choose more heat-resistant varieties.

2. Seeding and planting

If you add insulation facilities when sowing baby cabbage, it can be sown all year round. When planting in summer, you need to provide shade.

Baby cabbage can be sown by broadcasting or seedling transplanting. If broadcasting, only 1-2 seeds are needed in each hole, and about 150 grams of seeds are needed per acre. If seedling transplanting is used, you can wait until the seedlings grow 3 leaves and then transplant them.

Points to note when managing baby cabbage

Baby cabbage is very hardy and requires basically no special care. Just check it half a month after sowing, remove and replace any bad seedlings in time, and clear the surrounding weeds. After the baby cabbage has developed stably, you can occasionally add some fertilizer to help it grow faster.
