How to propagate Jasper Lotus

How to propagate Jasper Lotus

1. Cutting method:

This propagation method is relatively widely used on Jasper Lotus. When the jade lotus is 4 to 5 months old, select the top branches with better growth. The five-centimeter-long cuttings should have 1 to 2 leaves left on the upper part. Make an oblique cut, dry it in the sun and then put it into relatively moist sandy soil. You can also choose the Yaksha method, use a knife to take the jade lotus leaves with petioles, dry them and insert them obliquely into the sand, and roots will usually grow in 10-15 days. If it is cultivated in a greenhouse, appropriate temperature control equipment is required so that cutting propagation can be carried out all year round.

2. Division method:

This method is less commonly used. The potting soil is generally composed mainly of leaf mold and peat soil, with a small amount of perlite or sand added, and finally an appropriate amount of base fertilizer. Jade Lotus is greatly affected by temperature, and the color of its leaves is different at different temperatures. The room temperature for colorful-leaf jade lotus is generally 18-20℃; the room temperature for green-leaf jade lotus is generally around 15℃.

Jade Lotus should be cared for with special care in summer and winter. The amount of watering and fertilization should be controlled during this season to avoid some diseases and even rot. Pay attention to the following aspects:

1. When it is hot in summer, it should be placed in a cool and humid place, and spray water to cool it down, because overheating or overhumidity may cause the stems and leaves to turn black or even rot.

2. The temperature is relatively low in winter, so the jade lotus should be placed in a sunny place. In summer, avoid direct sunlight to avoid sunburn of the leaves.

3. Jade Lotus has high requirements for nutrients. During the growth process, top dressing should be done every 15 days.

The editor introduced to you two methods of propagating Jade Lotus, and also briefly introduced the requirements for daily maintenance. Now you know how to better care for your Jade Lotus!
