How long is the growth cycle of Chinese cabbage?

Introduction to the growth of Chinese cabbage

Chinese cabbage is a cultivated plant of the genus Brassica, generally cultivated as an annual plant. Its stems and leaves are edible. It is mainly produced in my country and distributed in both the north and south regions. Its plants are relatively short and have well-developed fibrous roots. Its vitamins and minerals are the richest among vegetables.

Growth cycle of Chinese cabbage

Chinese cabbage has strong regeneration ability. The stems are shortened during the vegetative growth period, but under high temperature or overcrowding conditions, the nodes will elongate. The leaves are the main edible part and are rosette-shaped. The flowers, fruits, and seeds are the same as those of Chinese cabbage.

There are many varieties of Chinese cabbage, a short growing period, wide adaptability, high yield and easy planting. It can be grown and supplied all year round. Under normal circumstances, it only takes about 30 days from sowing to harvesting of Chinese cabbage in summer and autumn.

Growth rate of Chinese cabbage

When the seeds of Chinese cabbage are sown in the soil, seedlings will grow out on the 5th to 6th day. One day later, the seedlings will turn green and the number of leaves will increase. After another few days, the seedlings will gradually grow bigger and taller. When there are 4 to 5 leaves, they can be thinned out. After 20 days, they will grow vigorously.

The entire growth cycle of Chinese cabbage is 25 days, and some early-maturing varieties only need 18 days to mature, so its growth cycle can be said to be very fast.

Growth cycle management of Chinese cabbage

Chinese cabbage is a fast-growing vegetable. Under proper management, the yield per mu can reach about 4,000 kilograms. It prefers cold weather and is resistant to both low and high temperatures. It can be planted and marketed all year round, but January to March is the best season for its consumption.

Temperature management: The minimum temperature for Chinese cabbage seeds to germinate is 4-8℃, the most suitable growth temperature is between 20-25℃, the most suitable temperature for leaf growth is 18-20℃, and it grows best under sufficient sunlight.

Fertilization management: Chinese cabbage requires a large amount of fertilizer. Not only does it need sufficient base fertilizer, but it is also most sensitive to nitrogen. If the nitrogen supply is sufficient, the chlorophyll will increase. If there is too much nitrogen and insufficient phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, the quality of the plant will decline.
