What is the best season to plant wintersweet?

Which month is suitable for planting wintersweet?

Wintersweet can grow in cold temperatures. Its growing environment is different from that of most plants. It is suitable for planting in autumn and early spring, around February and March. If larger seedlings are planted, it is best to have soil on the roots so that the roots are not easily damaged and can better adapt to the surrounding environment.

Wintersweet planting method

1. Germination treatment: The epidermis of wintersweet seeds is relatively hard. If planted directly, the germination rate will be extremely low. Therefore, it is best to soak the seeds in warm water at 30 degrees for 24 hours, then put them in moist sand after soaking, knead the seeds and wet sand together, and grow them in a warm and humid environment. Spray water once a day, and they will germinate and take root in about 30 days.

2. Water and fertilizer management: Watering should be kept at a half-dry and half-wet state in the pot soil. Proper drainage should be carried out during rainy seasons. The frequency of watering should be increased during droughts. Cake fertilizer solution should be applied every 15 days or so, and the soil should be loosened in time.

Points to note when planting wintersweet

1. Germination: Note that germination treatment should be carried out before sowing to increase the germination rate of seeds. Use 60° warm water to soak the seeds for about 12-24 hours, and then throw away the seeds floating on the water.

2. Management: It is best to change the soil of wintersweet every 2-3 years, usually after the flowers fade each year. In hot weather, the temperature should be lowered to avoid poor growth of the wintersweet, and pruning should be carried out during the growth period.
