Lotus Planting Time

Lotus is usually planted around April every year. The spring climate can accelerate the germination of lotus seeds. Lotus planted after May will grow small lotus leaves later, but it will not affect survival. Normally, lotus can be planted in spring, summer and autumn, but if you want it to bloom in the same year, you need to choose a more appropriate time.

Lotus planting methods and key points

1. Prepare the soil

When planting lotus, you can directly dig some from the lotus pond where the lotus is growing, or you can use a mixture of garden soil and sand instead. Just remember to add an appropriate amount of water at the end and stir it into soil.

2. Choose lotus root species

When planting lotus, you need to choose lotus roots with 2 to 3 sections as its seeds. After washing it, dry its wounds before planting it. This can prevent the wounds from being infected in the water.

Lotus planting precautions

1. Soaking and germination

Before planting lotus, you need to put the seeds in a container of water and soak them properly before planting. Change the water once a day during soaking, and they will start to germinate in about 7 days.

2. Transplantation and planting

After planting the lotus, when its shoots grow to about 10 cm, they can be transplanted into the prepared container. Under sufficient light, lotus leaves will gradually grow in about a month.
