Which month is suitable for planting lotus?

Lotus is a perennial aquatic herb with a flowering period from June to September. It is generally suitable for planting in spring. In the warm southern regions, it can be planted between March and May. In the northern regions, the planting time cannot be too early, and the unstable temperature will affect the growth of the lotus. Planting should start in late April.

Lotus planting method

1. Germination

Pinch the raised end of the lotus seed and soak it in clean water. Remember to change the water every day. It will sprout in about a week. Wait until the sprouts grow stably before sowing.

2. Soil preparation

When planting lotus, you should choose a larger flowerpot to give the lotus enough space to grow. It is best to use pond soil, but you can also use garden soil mixed into a thin mud instead.

3. Planting

Transplant the germinated seeds into a flowerpot, at a depth that allows the seed sprouts to be slightly exposed. Add an appropriate amount of water, making sure the water level is two or three centimeters higher than the mud.

4. Maintenance

After planting the lotus, water it frequently to keep it moist, avoid direct sunlight, and keep the temperature at around 20℃. The leaves will grow in about a month.

Lotus planting points

1. Lotus usually starts to germinate at 8-10℃ and starts to grow at 14℃, so when sowing, make sure to keep the temperature above 15℃.

2. In summer, when lotus grows fastest, it is necessary to ensure sufficient water and nutrients to make the lotus grow more vigorously.
