Winter Radish Planting and Harvest Times

Winter Radish Planting and Harvest Times

Winter radish planting time

Winter radish is suitable for planting around early to mid-September. Due to the low temperature, sowing too late will reduce the yield, so it needs to be sown at the right time. Generally, the sowing time in medium-altitude areas of 800 to 1200 meters is around April to May, and the sowing time in high-altitude areas is from May to July.

Winter Radish Harvest Time

Winter radish is grown in mid-altitude areas and harvested around June and July. When grown in high-altitude areas, it will be harvested from July to September. Alpine radish cultivation uses varieties with strong cold resistance and is planted for two harvests, so it can be on the market from June until the end of October.

Key points for high-yield cultivation of winter radish

1. Soil screening

If you want to plant white radish, you must first select suitable land for planting. Generally speaking, white radish is suitable for planting in land with deep, loose and fertile soil. It can be mixed with coal slag, garden soil and humus soil. Before use, you should water it slightly to keep it moist.

2. Seeding techniques

Before sowing winter radish, you need to till the soil, then dig suitable holes in the soil, the size of a fist, then put in about 4 white radish seeds, cover them with a thin layer of soil, and water until the soil is slightly moist.

3. Weeding and seedling selection

White radish seedlings will emerge one week after planting, and watering is needed at this time. You can add some nitrogen fertilizer to the water to help the seedlings grow. During the growth process of the seedlings, the seedlings that grow poorly should be screened out and removed in time. You should also inspect the fields regularly and pull out the weeds that grow.
