Planting and harvesting time

Planting time of Rehmannia glutinosa

my country has a vast territory and the planting times are different. Planting is chosen according to climatic conditions. Rehmannia can be divided into early Rehmannia and late Rehmannia. Their planting times are slightly different. Early Rehmannia is generally planted in early April or mid-April, while late Rehmannia is planted in late May to early June.

Rehmannia harvest time

The growth cycle of Rehmannia is usually half a year. If planted in April, it can be harvested in November of the same year. If planted in May-June, it needs to be harvested in January of the following year. It can be harvested when the stems and leaves of Rehmannia become withered and yellow.

Key points for high-yield cultivation of Rehmannia glutinosa

1. Site selection

Rehmannia is suitable for planting in sandy loam with deep soil, fertile and loose soil and good drainage. After selecting the planting site, deep plowing should be carried out, and then sufficient farmyard manure should be applied as base fertilizer, and finally the bed should be leveled.

2. Planting

Generally, seeds cultivated in July and August of the previous year are chosen, which will give high yield and good quality, while also preventing serious degradation. After selecting the seeds, they are planted and the planting density is determined. Usually, the plant spacing is about 30 cm and the row spacing is about 40 cm.

3. Management

When the rehmannia seedlings grow to 10-20 cm, it is time to start thinning and replanting. It is best to do so on a cloudy day. The next step is topdressing and irrigation. Rehmannia likes fertilizer very much. In addition to base fertilizer, an appropriate amount of cake fertilizer should be applied after thinning, which can promote the development of roots and stems.
