How to deal with hibiscus root rot

How to deal with hibiscus root rot

1. Replace the soil

Reason: If the soil where hibiscus is grown has poor air permeability and drainage, its roots will not be able to breathe, which will lead to root rot over time.

Solution: Replace the soil with good air permeability as soon as possible. It has a good adaptability to the soil, but it is best to use fertile, loose and air-permeable soil, which is more conducive to its growth.

2. Reduce watering

Reason: If you do not control the amount of watering well and water too much for a long time, water accumulation will easily occur. Once the accumulated water cannot be drained, the roots will easily rot.

Solution: Loosen the soil appropriately and reduce the amount of watering, just keep the soil moist. When the weather is dry and there is no rain, you can water more appropriately. Appropriate drainage measures should be taken during the rainy season to prevent water accumulation in the potting soil.

3. Reasonable fertilization

Reason: Long-term excessive fertilization will cause nutrients to accumulate at the roots, making it impossible for the roots to breathe and affecting normal growth. Too much fertilizer will also burn the roots and cause root rot.

Solution: Reduce fertilization appropriately and control the frequency of fertilization. After applying a large amount of fertilizer, water more appropriately to allow excess nutrients to be discharged to avoid fertilizer damage and root rot. After watering in large quantities, pay attention to drainage to avoid water accumulation.
