How to plant camellia seeds

Camellia seed planting time

Camellia seeds have strong adaptability. When the weather is relatively warm, they can be sown basically all year round. However, the climate in different regions varies greatly, so there will be certain differences in planting time. If they are grown indoors, they can be sown under constant temperature throughout the four seasons.

Camellia seed planting method

1. Germination: Camellia seeds need to be germinated before sowing to increase the germination rate. First put the seeds in potassium permanganate solution for about 30 minutes, then soak them in 25-30 degree warm water for about 4-5 days, then store them in sand, and you can sow them after the buds appear.

2. Pot soil configuration: Camellia is more suitable for growing in loose and fertile soil. Generally, mountain soil, sawdust and cake fertilizer powder are mixed together. This way, the soil will have good air permeability and can retain water and fertilizer, which is more conducive to the growth and development of the plant.

3. Sowing and maintenance: When sowing camellia seeds, you can directly scatter the seeds on the surface of the soil, then cover them with a layer of fine soil, and water them appropriately. After watering, you need to cover them with a layer of plastic film, which can have a moisturizing effect.

Matters Needing Attention in Daily Management of Camellia

You need to pay attention when caring for camellia. After sowing, you need to place it in a well-ventilated, semi-shaded environment for maintenance, which can keep it warm and moisturized. It can resume growth after half a month. You can gradually increase the light at ordinary times, which will be more beneficial to its growth.
