The growth process of bamboo shoots

1. Bamboo shoots, also known as bamboo shoots, are the young shoots of bamboo. They are edible and taste very crispy. The growth process of bamboo shoots is also very interesting. Bamboo shoots grow underground.

2. When bamboo shoots first grow out, only a few small buds will appear. At this time, the bamboo shoots continue to grow in the soil, and their growth rate is amazing, and the bamboo shoots are very thick.

3. Bamboo shoots grow very fast. The shoots can grow 1 to 2 cm in the soil every day. When it reaches the rising growth period, the underground part of the bamboo shoots begins to stop growing, and more bamboo roots are produced, and the root system will grow.

4. Bamboo shoots will change from underground growth to above-ground growth, and the growth rate will also change from slow to very fast. At this time, bamboo shoots can grow 10 to 20 cm per day. The peak growth period is when the bamboo shoots grow the fastest. At this time, bamboo shoots will continue to grow upward and will grow lateral roots.

5. When bamboo shoots reach the peak growth period, the plants will grow rapidly in a straight line upwards. The plants can basically grow about 1m overnight. The skin of the bamboo shoots will begin to fall off. During the growth period, the bamboo shoots will change from the initial color to turquoise, and the plants will become very hard.

6. At the end of the growth period, the tip of the young bamboo shoot will bend for a hundred years, and its branch extension speed will accelerate. In the end, the growth rate of the bamboo shoot will slow down significantly until it stops growing. Branches and leaves will also grow.

Bamboo shoot planting time and method

The best time to plant bamboo shoots is spring. Choose fertile, loose, deep, slightly acidic soil. Narrow-leaf bamboo is the best mother bamboo. Select one to two years old bamboo as bamboo whips, bury the whips to raise seedlings, and bury about 4,000 whips per acre. Plant the bamboo seedlings after they are grown. Water and fertilize according to the growth stage of the bamboo, and apply top dressing 3 to 4 times a year.
