Can succulents be hydroponically cultivated?

Succulents can be grown hydroponically, but their growth ability in hydroponics is not very strong. Compared with soil cultivation, the growth rate of hydroponics is relatively slow, and the leaves will grow thinner and not as full as those grown in soil. It is also difficult to grow them in hydroponics and they have no ornamental effect.

Methods and key points of hydroponic cultivation of succulents

1. Root washing and hydroponics : First, take the succulents out of the flowerpot, remove the soil attached to the roots, rinse the roots clean, and put them into a hydroponic container filled with 2/3 of clean water. Let the roots of the succulents be completely immersed in the clean water, and the hydroponics is complete.

2. Beheading hydroponics : In addition to normal hydroponics, you can also use beheading to induce roots. Usually, the beheaded succulents are placed in a cool and ventilated place. After the incision is dry, the succulents are placed in a container filled with clean water. When the roots of the succulents grow to about 2 cm, you can continue to cultivate them in hydroponics.

Precautions for growing succulents in water

1. Since hydroponic succulents are afraid of the sun, they should be placed in a place with diffuse light before they take root. After they take root, they should be properly shaded at noon in spring and autumn, and they can receive direct sunlight in winter.

2. To prevent the container of hydroponic succulents from turning green, you can wrap the container with a black bag to prevent the formation of green algae in the water, which will affect the ornamental effect of the succulents. In addition, hydroponic succulents cannot grow large because there are almost no nutrients in the water, so every time you change the water, add 2 drops of nutrient solution to the water to supplement its nutrition.
