How to plant lily of the valley bulbs

How to plant lily of the valley bulbs

1. Environment

The land we choose for it has certain requirements. It must meet its living conditions and must not be greatly different from its growth habits. Because it does not have high requirements for soil, we only need to give it fertile and slightly acidic soil, and the surrounding environment needs to be mainly cool and humid. In such an environment it can grow better and the flowers it produces will be of higher quality.

2. Season

Generally speaking, we need to control the time when planting bulbs. It is better to plant them in spring, but of course it is also feasible before the autumn thaw. I have to say here that if the bulbs are not treated with low temperatures, it may take a month or so to germinate. Any delay may cause it to miss the normal growth opportunity.

To avoid this situation, we can dry the bulbs in the sun in advance, then store them in relatively dry soil and wait until next year to plant them. Remember that the storage temperature should be between zero and five degrees, so you can also put it in the refrigerator. In addition, we'd better take it out and check it from time to time to prevent it from rotting.

3. Methods

First, we take out the lily of the valley bulbs and then cut them into small pieces. Each piece needs to have sprouts, because even if a piece without sprouts is planted, it will not grow, so special attention must be paid.

Then bury it in the flower soil we prepared. You can dig holes in the flower soil in advance, put the pieces in when planting, and then cover them with a thin layer of soil. Be careful not to make the soil too thick, otherwise it will make it more difficult for it to germinate. Finally, place it in a cool and slightly humid place for maintenance.

When all external conditions meet the requirements, it will grow safely, and generally it will bloom in the second year.
