When and how many months can garlic be harvested?

Garlic harvest time

Garlic is usually harvested between mid-to-late May and June, and can be harvested about 25 days after the garlic shoots are harvested. However, before harvesting, you should also check whether the garlic is mature. When the leaves at the bottom turn yellow and the garlic skin becomes thin, you can harvest it. When the garlic is mature, it should be harvested as soon as possible, otherwise the garlic skin will easily rot in rainy weather.

Garlic Origin

The main producing areas of garlic in my country are Zhejiang, Hebei, Jiangsu, Henan, Shandong, Anhui, Sichuan, Yunnan, Shenyang, Qinghai, Xinjiang and other places. The harvest time in Zhejiang is from May to early June of the following year, in Jinan it can be harvested in early June, in Shenyang it can be harvested in mid-July, and in Qinghai it can be harvested in mid-September.

Garlic planting time and key points

Garlic is a crop that prefers a cool environment. It is generally sown in spring and autumn. The planting time is chosen according to the climate conditions and characteristics of the variety in different regions. In the northern region, the temperature is lower in autumn and winter, and the seedlings cannot safely overwinter. It is recommended to grow seedlings in greenhouses in early spring. The temperature in the southern region is generally high, so autumn sowing is generally carried out.

In order to increase the yield and quality of garlic, you must choose garlic cloves that are large and plump, pure white in color, with no signs of damage or destruction on the outside, and free from diseases and pests. Only by planting such garlic can the survival rate be improved.

After selecting the garlic seeds, place them in the sun to dry, which can not only kill some of the germination bacteria, but also increase the germination rate. Then remove the stems and tray parts, soak them in clean water, and then plant them in loose, fertile, well-drained, and nutrient-rich soil.
