Is sesame planting profitable? Planting costs and profits

Is growing sesame profitable?

The price of sesame is relatively high compared to other crops, and the market demand has been increasing year by year in recent years. From the perspective of yield, quality, price, etc., the prospects for sesame planting are very good, and it is a profitable planting industry.

Profits and Benefits of Sesame Planting

The current market price of sesame is around 18 yuan per catty, and the yield per mu can reach about 160-200 catties. Excluding the costs of fertilizers, pesticides, labor, water and electricity, the profit per mu is only about 2,800-3,600 yuan, which is still a good profit.

High-yield cultivation techniques for sesame

1. Seed selection

Before planting sesame, you need to choose healthy, plump, disease- and pest-free seeds. Soak them in water for a period of time before planting to allow them to fully absorb water and swell. Repeat this action three times in a row to increase their germination rate.

2. Management

After planting sesame, you can water it appropriately to promote seed germination. Also ensure that there are enough nutrients in the soil and thin out the seedlings when the height reaches 10 cm.

3. Harvest

Sesame seeds need to be harvested in time after they are ripe, otherwise the seeds will be scattered on the ground, resulting in reduced yield and economic damage. Note that they must be placed in the sun for a few days after harvesting.
