What are the cultivation methods and precautions of Yushu

Yushu cultivation method

Jade plant prefers a warm, dry, sunny and well-ventilated environment. It cannot tolerate strong sunlight. It is slightly shade-tolerant and not cold-tolerant. The winter temperature needs to be above 7 degrees. Fertile, well-drained sandy loam is preferred as the soil.

Jade plant needs to be repotted every year, and fertile soil can be added. It should be watered 2-3 times a week during the growing period. Watering should be strictly controlled in July and August when the temperature is higher. Water it frequently during midsummer and maintain a good ventilation environment. Watering should be controlled after autumn. When repotting every year or placing it indoors in autumn, it should be pruned in time to shape a simple and elegant plant shape.

Watering method

Jade plant likes a humid environment. It can be watered every 2-3 days during its growth period, but not excessively, let alone water accumulation. In summer, when the temperature is high, watering should be controlled. Appropriate amount of water should be sprayed to keep it moist, and ventilation should be strengthened, otherwise it will easily cause leaves to fall. It is better to keep the soil in the pot slightly dry in winter.

Fertilization method

During the growth period of Jade Plant, you can apply decomposed thin cake liquid fertilizer once every half a month. When repotting or planting, you can apply decomposed organic fertilizer, such as chicken manure, pigeon manure, bone meal, manure and urine, and cake fertilizer. Be careful not to apply concentrated fertilizer or raw fertilizer.

Pruning methods

In spring, you can prune the weak, diseased and insect-infested branches of jade plants to keep the crown loose and well ventilated and light-permeable. Pinch the branches several times during the growth period and cut back the overgrown branches to promote the growth of axillary buds. If you want to grow them in potted plants, you can prune away the unsightly branches and leaves to increase the ornamental value of the plant.

Precautions for Yushu cultivation

When repotting the jade plant in spring every year, you need to trim off the rotten roots and degraded covering, apply some fertilizer to supplement the nutrients needed for plant growth, and maintain it in a semi-shaded environment. After it adapts to the new environment, you can then maintain it normally.
