Eggplant growth habits

Eggplant is an annual herb that likes to grow in an environment with sufficient light. Therefore, whether it is seed germination or growth and development, it has high requirements for the time and intensity of light.

The suitable temperature for germination of its seeds is generally around 25℃-30℃, and it is more suitable for growing in soil rich in organic matter and with strong water and fertilizer retention capabilities.

Where do eggplants like to grow?

The main producing areas of eggplant are currently subtropical regions. In addition to Asia, eggplant is also grown in other countries around the world, such as Africa, the Mediterranean coast, central and southern Europe, Central America and other regions. Eggplant was first produced in India, but currently the country with the largest cultivation area and the highest total output is China.

Eggplant itself is an upright plant that likes to grow on eggplant vines. Generally, it grows flower buds first, then branches, and finally flowers and fruits. Most eggplants are of different shapes and sizes, and come in different colors such as purple, red, and white.

Eggplant growth environment and conditions

1. Temperature: Eggplant is a thermophilic and heat-resistant crop with very high temperature requirements. The suitable temperature during its growth and development is around 25°C. Too high or too low temperature will affect the growth of eggplant.

2. Soil: Eggplant has a strong adaptability to soil and can grow in various gravel and clay soil environments, but it grows best in loose, fertile, well-drained and breathable sandy loam, especially in slightly acidic to slightly alkaline (pH 6.8-7.3) soil, where the yield is higher.
