How to grow carnations in summer

1. Breeding environment

1. Soil: Choose relatively loose sandy soil or other soil with strong air permeability

2. Light: In summer, sufficient light is needed in the morning and evening, but appropriate light blocking can be provided during the hot noon to prevent the leaves from being burned, resulting in lighter flower color.

3. Temperature: Keep the temperature at around 19-21℃. If the temperature is too high in summer, above 35℃, spray water around the plant or on the leaves to control the temperature. It can grow in winter when the temperature is above 9℃.

4. Water: In summer, the amount of watering should be relatively more, but water should not accumulate. Drip irrigation can be used to prevent root rot.

2. Breeding Methods

1. Cutting method

Graft off the flower stalks, cut off the branches below the nodes, keep the upper 3-4 leaves, and remove the bottom leaves. Insert the treated branches into the substrate, then water them thoroughly and place them in a dark place to take root. It will take about one month to take root and can be grown in the sun.

2. Seeding method

Choose soil with good drainage as the substrate, sow the seeds at around 20℃, and they will germinate in about 10-15 days. The newly sown seeds should be placed in a cool and ventilated place. After germination, they should be placed in the sun for cultivation, but be careful not to expose them to strong light.

3. Pests and diseases

It is susceptible to diseases and pests such as leaf spot or gray mold. If symptoms of infection appear, such as spots or gray mold on the stems and leaves, remove the diseased leaves and spray insecticides in time.
