Cranberry planting conditions and climate requirements for planting

Cranberry Growing Conditions

There are many varieties of cranberries, most of which are relatively cold-resistant. They usually grow in wetlands with relatively low temperatures. When growing, they need a low temperature environment and avoid hot weather. If the temperature is relatively high, they need to be cooled down in time and there must be sufficient water environment.

Cranberry growing environment

Cranberry prefers a cool environment. It mainly grows in cold areas of the northern hemisphere, usually at the foot of the mountain, near swamps and lakes. In North America, it usually grows in soil formed by melting glaciers. When planting, it is necessary to avoid windy and dry areas.

Cranberry Planting Methods

1. Soil: Cranberry has high requirements for soil. Its roots are not deep, so a layer of sand needs to be covered on the surface of the soil. Peat soil can be chosen, which is more conducive to its growth.

2. Pollination: When planting cranberries, multiple varieties are generally planted together and mixed pollinated, because self-pollination has a relatively low yield and the fruit is relatively small.

3. Harvesting: There are two main ways to harvest cranberries, namely wet harvesting and dry harvesting. If it is wet harvesting, a lot of water is needed the night before harvesting, and then a water truck is used to knock the fruits down the next day.
