Where are the best places to plant durian trees?

Durian tree planting conditions

Durian trees are only suitable for growing in tropical areas. They like a warm growing environment. The suitable minimum temperature is 22 degrees, and the annual accumulated temperature is above 7000 to 7500 degrees. The annual precipitation is more than 1000 mm, of which precipitation can be supplemented artificially, but climate and heat conditions are natural factors and are the key conditions that determine the success of growing durian.

Durian tree growth environment

1. Climate

Durian is a tropical plant. It likes a warm growing environment. The minimum temperature for growing durian is 22℃. It can only be grown in frost-free areas such as Hainan, Guangdong and Yunnan. The weather in the north is cold and not suitable for the growth of durian, so delicious durian cannot be grown in the north.

2. Heat

The heat for growing durian must also meet the standards. The accumulated temperature throughout the year for growing durian should be above 7000-7500℃. Adequate sunlight can provide the source of power for the growth of durian, allowing it to grow healthily and vigorously. For example, in high places above 600 meters above sea level in the equatorial region, although it is hot during the day, it is cold at night and durian cannot be grown.

3. Precipitation

To grow durian, the annual precipitation must reach more than 1,000 mm. If natural rain is insufficient, artificial irrigation must be carried out. Sufficient water can ensure the growth of durian and make the durian fruit larger and more delicious.

How to Plant a Durian Tree

1. Treat the soil

If you want to plant durian, you need to prepare a piece of soil for planting seeds first. The soil used for planting durian is generally neutral slightly acidic soil. It needs to have a loose and porous structure and good drainage and air permeability. It can be discharged in time when there is water accumulation, and it must have a certain basic fertility.

2. Seeding techniques

Durian seeds generally do not require special processing or catalysis. You only need to select relatively complete and plump healthy seeds, wash them in clean water, dry them and set them aside. When sowing, sow the processed seeds and cover them with a thin layer of soil after evenly sowing.

3. Planting and topdressing

There is no exact time point and clear season distinction for transplanting durian. The best time for transplanting is when the plant grows to a height of about 30-40 cm. At this time, you can transplant the durian seedlings. Durian seedlings can be topdressed with organic fertilizer and appropriate amount of lime.
