What to do if the leaves of bromeliad change color

Reasons for Bromeliad Leaf Color Change

The leaves of the bromeliad were originally purple-red, but they turned green because of the lack of sunlight. The plant was unable to carry out photosynthesis and lacked chlorophyll and chlorophyll, so the color gradually changed.

If the indoor location is too dark, the patterns on the leaves will gradually disappear, the leaf color will become dull, and it will lose its ornamental value.

In addition, too strong direct light can burn the leaves and cause spots to appear on them.

Bromeliad is not cold-resistant, so the lower the temperature in winter, the darker the color of its leaves will be.

The leaf tips dry up because the air humidity is low in summer and evaporation is relatively large, so the leaves are easily dehydrated, causing the leaf tips to dry up.

What to do if the leaves of bromeliad fade

Bromeliad prefers a semi-shady environment and is suitable for growing under 20℃-25℃ conditions. It should be placed near a sunny windowsill and can receive up to 3-4 hours of direct sunlight a day, but strong sunlight should be avoided.

The location of the bromeliad should be changed according to the change of seasons. The minimum room temperature in winter should not be lower than 15℃. If it is lower than 10℃, the bromeliad will be easily damaged by frost.

During the vigorous growth period of bromeliad, apply organic liquid fertilizer once every 7-10 days and alum solution 1-2 times a month to make the leaves bright. Do not apply too much nitrogen fertilizer on a daily basis, as it will make the leaf patterns dull.

To prevent the leaf tips from drying out, keep the soil in the pot moist. Spray clean water on the leaves 1 to 2 times a day, and fill the cup-shaped area in the center of the leaf base with clean water.
