Taro planting time in the north

Taro in the north is afraid of frost and likes to grow in a warm and humid environment, so it is usually sown in mid-to-early March. If it is sown too early, it is easy to produce rotten seeds. Its growth cycle is relatively long, and it will germinate only when the temperature is maintained above 13-15 degrees.

Northern taro planting method

1. Land preparation and fertilization: Northern taro has a strong adaptability to soil, but it is best to choose fertile clay soil with strong water retention for sowing. Before sowing, the land needs to be prepared and trenches need to be dug, and sufficient base fertilizer should be applied.

2. Seed selection and germination: When sowing northern taro, you need to select disease-free, plump seeds. After drying for 3-4 days, you need to cover them with a layer of 8-10 cm thick wet sand for germination. Keep the room temperature between 20-25 degrees. It will germinate in about 20-30 days.

3. Sowing: After processing the seeds, you can start sowing. You need to dig two furrows on the bed, and then after watering enough, you can start sowing. The plants need to be planted at a spacing of 33-40 cm.

Precautions for planting taro in the north

After sowing northern taro, you need to pay attention to the fact that it does not need to be watered before it sprouts, but in the middle and late stages of growth, the soil needs to be kept moist. When the rainy season comes, it is also necessary to drain the water in time to avoid water accumulation.
