Autumn eggplant is generally sown from early July to the end of August. Eggplant can also be sown in early spring, usually from the end of December to the end of February. Its suitable growth temperature is between 20 and 30 degrees, so it is suitable for planting in spring and autumn.

1. Choose good varieties

It is necessary to choose suitable varieties according to the climatic conditions of the planting site. It is best to choose varieties that are disease-resistant, cold-resistant and rain-resistant, uniform and beautiful in appearance, such as Hongfeng, Changfeng, Zaofeng, Nongyou Changqie, Guilin Changqie, Yueqie No. 2, Yuefeng, and Shijie Hongqie.

2. Site selection and land preparation

Autumn eggplant should be grown on loose, fertile, well-drained land, preferably a rice field. It should be deep-plowed in advance and exposed to the sun for disinfection. The soil should be raised to a height of more than 30 cm. The seedbed should be sprayed with pentachloronitrobenzene 7-10 days before sowing, and then covered with a film for disinfection.

3. Planting

After selecting a good variety, you can sow it evenly into loose soil. Generally, the seed rate is 15-20 grams per mu. After sowing, cover it with a thin layer of soil, then water it thoroughly, cover it with plastic film, and the seedlings will soon emerge.

Precautions for planting autumn eggplant

During the seedling stage of autumn eggplant, thinning should be carried out 2-3 times, and too dense and weak seedlings should be pulled out. If there is more rainfall during the seedling period, diseases such as damping-off and damping-off are prone to occur. Control watering, pull out the diseased seedlings immediately after the disease occurs, and sprinkle an appropriate amount of wood ash to reduce the spread of pathogens.
