How to care for newly bought cymbidium

How to care for newly bought cymbidium

1. Soil

It is best planted in loose sandy soil, which can be mixed with some peat soil or peat soil and leaf mold. This will provide better air permeability, strong drainage and a certain degree of soil fertility. When repotting, it is recommended to use clay pots or other flower pots with good air permeability.

2. Environment

When you first buy it, you should provide it with a comfortable environment and ensure good indoor ventilation. It needs some diffuse light, try not to let it be exposed to direct sunlight, and provide shade in summer. In autumn, you can get more exposure to sunlight, which is beneficial to the formation of flower buds and stores more nutrients to help overwinter. The temperature during maintenance should be kept between 10-25℃, and it is better to have a larger temperature difference between day and night. The temperature at night should not be too high, which will cause the flowers to wilt or not bloom.

3. Watering

It has fleshy roots, so it has a certain degree of moisturizing properties. So don't water it too much when you just buy it. When watering, it is best to spray water frequently, and do not use large amounts of water directly to avoid waterlogging in the soil and root rot. Moreover, from December to April, the water evaporates slowly, so there is no need to water too much, and spraying water is enough.

4. Fertilization

Don't fertilize when you first buy it. When replacing a new pot, you can spread a thin layer of fertilizer on the bottom as base fertilizer before the growing season. During the period of vigorous growth, it should be watered with a thin fertilizer solution once every ten days. In spring and summer, you can even fertilize once a week, and it is best to use nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers.
