The suitable growth temperature of sweet potato is between 20-30 degrees. It is usually planted in spring and autumn. 1. Breeding method

Choose tubers that are strong, slender, have few fibrous roots, smooth skin and no external injuries. Cut them into small pieces about 5 to 10 cm long. Each piece needs to have eyes. Then cover the cut surface of each small piece with wood ash, place them in the sun for 1-2 hours, then place them indoors for 1-3 days, and then sow them after the cut surface has healed.

2. Planting

For sweet potatoes, double rows are used in each bed. Two 8-cm planting furrows are opened on each bed. Then lime is sprinkled in the planting furrows to reduce diseases. The seed potatoes are arranged at a spacing of 33 to 40 cm. Take care to plant them in the soil with the cut surface facing down. Then the soil is covered to form ridges. The ridge height is about 10 cm. The emergence of seedlings is slow if not germinated, but they take root first and then sprout. They have a well-developed root system and grow healthily.

Things to note when planting sweet potato

When the seedlings of the sweet potato grow to 25 to 30 cm, use 2-meter-long small wood to insert them into an independent frame to allow them to climb and grow upward. Only one strong seedling is left on each stump, and the rest are all removed. If the stems and vines grow too vigorously and have too many axillary buds, they should be thinned out in time.
