Sweet potato is usually planted in April because spring is its growing season. However, the planting time varies in different regions. In the south, it is generally planted in March, while in the north it is planted around April.

1. Site selection and fertilization: Sweet potato grows relatively fast, so it should be planted in loose, fertile, well-drained and breathable soil. Before planting, nitrogen-based nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium compound fertilizer should be applied to accelerate seed germination.

2. Seed selection: When planting sweet stalks, it is best to choose relatively strong and full seeds. Some relatively small, shriveled, and diseased seeds cannot be planted because the germination rate is too low. Insecticides need to be mixed in before sowing and the seeds need to be dried.

3. Reasonable fertilization: During the growth period, the sweet pole has a relatively large demand for fertilizer, so it is necessary to fertilize in time. You can use quick-acting compound fertilizer to speed up flowering and fruiting.

Sweet potato planting precautions

When the sweet potato is growing normally, it must be managed reasonably in the field. In the later stage, the leaves need to be sprayed with foliar fertilizer, and the yellow and dead leaves need to be removed in time. This can increase ventilation and light transmission, promote early maturity, and eliminate pests.
