How to care for cherry blossoms before they bloom

How to care for cherry blossoms before they bloom

1. Flowering period

Japan is a holy place for appreciating this flower. Japan's cherry blossoms usually bloom from late March to early April, but due to global warming, it has also affected the cherry blossoms, causing them to bloom earlier. This flower begins to grow along with its leaves in March, and some bloom after the leaves grow out. In the early stage, the petals are light pink, then turn into purple-brown, and by July, the cherry blossoms are ripe. A flower only has a lifespan of seven days before it blooms and withers. The flowering period of an entire tree only lasts about sixteen days, and the flowers fall as they bloom.

2. Maintenance before flowering

If you want the cherry blossoms to grow beautifully, have good petal shape, and last a long time during flowering, you need to pay attention to the following aspects during the flowering period.

1. Soil

It does not like land with high salinity and alkali content. Although it is not very demanding on the land, it is best to prepare sandy soil for it, preferably with good permeability, loose and fertile soil.

2. Temperature

Cherry blossoms like warmth, but are not afraid of severe cold. If you want them to bloom earlier in winter, you can move them indoors. It originates from temperate and subtropical regions, where the temperatures are what it likes.

3. Pruning

During its growth period, the dead branches and yellow leaves on the tree must be cleared away at any time. If the cherry blossoms grow many branches, they must be pruned, otherwise the nutrients of the main trunk will be wasted. After you cut its branches, take protective measures for its wounds, such as applying antiseptics, because its wounds take a long time to heal, so the chance of infection is reduced. Before it blooms, be sure to cut short those dense branches and cut off those diseased, insect-infested, and withered branches.

4. Watering

There should not be too much water in the soil for planting flowers and it should not be too moist, otherwise the roots will easily rot. In mild cases, the leaves will fall off, affecting flowering. In severe cases, the whole tree will die. Water appropriately according to the season and the size of the tree.
