Leek Planting Time and Method

Leek planting time

Leeks can be planted in spring or autumn. In spring, seedlings are usually raised in March and April, transplanted in May and June, and available on the market after October. In autumn, seedings are raised in July and August, transplanted in October, and available on the market the following year.

Leek Planting Method

1. Land preparation and fertilization: Leeks need to be planted in fields with deep, fertile soil and convenient drainage. Before sowing, sufficient farmyard manure needs to be applied, and the fields need to be deep plowed and leveled to make flat beds.

2. Planting: After fertilizing and leveling the soil, you can plant the seedlings. When transplanting, they need to be planted densely. After successful planting, they need to be watered appropriately to keep the soil moist.

3. Field management: In order to promote the growth of leeks, top dressing is necessary in time, which can also improve the quality of the product. In spring and autumn, top dressing is needed 2-3 times, mainly with manure.

Leek planting precautions

Attention should be paid to the growth of leeks during the seedling stage. When they grow to 2-3 leaves, they need to be thinned out in time and watered in time to keep the soil moist. During the maintenance period, inter-row cultivation and weeding should be carried out regularly.
