Rapeseed planting time and method

Rapeseed planting time

Rapeseed is suitable for planting in autumn, the specific time is around September to November each year. Of course, the planting time varies in different planting locations, and it needs to be adjusted according to the approximate planting time. Some areas will also be planted in spring.

Rapeseed Planting Method

1. Site selection and land preparation: Before planting rapeseed, you must choose suitable soil. It has a wide adaptability to soils and can be planted in soil that is not too sticky. Renovate the soil in advance to avoid the soil being too compacted. Water it once before planting.

2. Planting: You can use seeds for planting, that is, scatter the purchased seeds into the soil, but there must be a certain distance, otherwise the seedlings will be very crowded after they grow out. You can also buy small seedlings and plant them at a certain distance.

3. Planting management: When the rape flowers grow to about 20 cm, they need to be weeded to avoid competing for nutrients. At this time, you can apply urea once and water them together. As the seedlings continue to grow, they need to be fertilized again when they grow to about 40 cm. You can use farmyard manure for this fertilization.

Matters Needing Attention in Planting Rapeseed

Rapeseed is prone to diseases and pests during its growth period. Common pests are cabbage worms, flea beetles, aphids, cotton bollworms, etc. They can be sprayed with dimethoate or malathion in time. For cotton bollworms, you can use chlorpyrifos mixed with water to spray them in the early larval stage, once every 5-7 days, and spray 2-3 times in a row.
