When and how to plant beans

When and how to plant beans

Bean planting time

Beans can be planted in spring, summer and autumn. Winter planting needs to be done in a greenhouse. Generally, spring planting is from February to March each year, summer planting is from May to August, and autumn planting is from September to October.

How to plant beans

1. Land preparation and fertilization

Before planting beans, you need to prepare the land and apply fertilizers in advance. Beans grow best in loose, breathable and well-drained soil. When preparing the land, try to dig the ditch deeper and add an appropriate amount of organic fertilizer to the soil to ensure soil fertility.

2. Planting in progress

Next, dig holes in the soil to prepare for planting, control the spacing between each hole, then put 3-5 seeds in a hole and cover it with soil. After planting, you need to water it once to keep the soil moist and wait patiently for the seeds to germinate. If the temperature is low, you can also cover it with a film to keep warm and moisturize.

3. Post-maintenance

In the later stage, we only need to carry out normal maintenance of the beans, control the amount of watering to keep the soil moist, and apply decomposed liquid fertilizer every 15-20 days during the growing period to ensure the growth needs of the plants.

Notes on planting beans

Green beans grow in a climbing manner. In order to increase the yield and facilitate picking, a trellis can usually be set up when the seedlings grow to about 30 cm. Top dressing should be applied in time during the flowering period of the beans, which can increase the pod setting rate of the beans and also increase the yield.
