How many days does it take for peppers to germinate?

1. How many days does it take to germinate?

The germination time of pepper seeds is related to temperature. The temperature needs to be kept between 15-35℃. Within this range, the higher the temperature, the shorter the germination time. Generally, it takes 5-7 days to germinate at around 30℃, 7-10 days to germinate at around 25℃, and 10-15 days to germinate at around 20℃.

2. How to germinate

1. Seed selection: Choose seeds with fuller grains. The germination rate of shriveled seeds is lower. Generally, pepper seeds can be stored for two years, but it will be difficult for them to germinate if they are stored for more than two years.

2. Disinfection: Place the seeds in 10% trisodium phosphate solution and soak for about 20 minutes. Rinse with water afterwards to avoid drug residue. You can also put it in the sun for two days without getting it wet.

3. Soak the seeds: Place the seeds in 50-55℃ hot water and soak for 15-20 minutes. It needs to be stirred constantly during the process, and hot water needs to be added after the temperature drops to keep the water temperature constant. After 20 minutes, add appropriate amount of cold water to lower the water temperature to around 20°C, and then soak for another 6-8 hours.

4. Germination: Find a plate of appropriate size and place a wet paper towel on it. Place the seeds evenly in it and cover with plastic wrap. Place it in an environment of 15-35℃ and it will generally germinate in one to two weeks.
