How long does it take for jasmine cuttings to take root?

Jasmine cutting rooting time

Jasmine is generally propagated by cuttings during the growing season from May to October. The best time is in the evening, especially during the rainy season. It usually takes about 30-40 days for the cuttings to take root after propagation. Sufficient humidity needs to be provided to avoid direct sunlight.

About 30 days after the jasmine cuttings, the pot is full of white roots. When the branches slowly grow new buds, the jasmine has taken root.

In addition, provide the jasmine with a suitable environment, a place that is not exposed to direct sunlight but is relatively bright, and keep the soil moist. Generally, leaves will grow in about a month after cuttings.

Jasmine cutting rooting method

1. Prepare the substrate: Choose a loose, fertile, well-drained substrate. You can choose coarse vermiculite or river sand, perlite and slightly acidic sandy soil. Choose a planting container with drainage holes. You can use a plastic bottle, etc., so that you can drill holes in the bottom.

2. Select branches: Choose annual branches that have bloomed, about 10 cm in length, cut off the leaves on the lower part, leaving 2 leaves, to reduce water evaporation and photosynthesis, accumulate nutrients for cuttings, and increase the survival rate of cuttings. The branches should retain more than 2 bud nodes, and new buds will grow from here after potting.

3. Cutting process: Jasmine can be cut from May to October, keeping the temperature at 20-25℃. The survival rate can be guaranteed under suitable temperature conditions. Insert the prepared branches into the soil, press the substrate around the branches lightly with your fingertips, then water it thoroughly once, and place the planted small pots in a basin of water with a depth of 1-2cm.

4. Maintenance and management: You can take several cuttings at a time. After the cuttings are completed, place them in a cool and ventilated place. Since there is no rooting, no fertilizer is needed at this time. After about a month, when you observe that the pot is full of white roots and new buds grow on the branches, it means that the cuttings are successful.

Jasmine cutting management

1. After the jasmine cuttings have taken root, they can be exposed to the sun and the light exposure time can be increased slowly. They should not be exposed to direct sunlight, otherwise the leaves will wilt.

2. Jasmine can be fertilized appropriately after the cuttings have taken root. Jasmine should mainly use farmyard manure, combined with an appropriate amount of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers.

3. After the jasmine is cut, just keep the soil in the pot moist. Do not water it unless it is dry, and water it thoroughly when you do. Watering should be done in a well-ventilated environment and do not cause water accumulation.
