1. Breeding environment

1. Soil: The spotted leaf orchid has fleshy roots, so you need to use sandy soil with good drainage and rich in humus. It is best to use slightly acidic soil, which is conducive to its growth.

2. Light: It likes shade and should not be exposed to direct sunlight. It can be exposed to scattered light or short periods of light, and proper ventilation should be carried out to ensure air circulation.

3. Temperature: The spotted leaf orchid should be provided with a growth environment of 15-30℃. Temperatures below 5℃ or above 35℃ will affect its normal growth. When the temperature is low, it should be kept indoors.

2. Breeding Methods

Propagation by division: The spotted leaf orchid is generally divided in spring and autumn. Each clump must have 5 connected pseudobulbs, and then it is inserted into the prepared soil and watered thoroughly to ensure that the soil is moist. Reduce watering during this period and place it in a cool place for about 10-15 days and it will take root.

3. Common pests and diseases

White rot: Once the disease occurs, it will cause root rot. At this time, clean soil should be replaced and proper ventilation should be carried out. Diseased plants should be burned to avoid infecting other plants.

Scale insects: They mostly reproduce in high temperature and high humidity environments. Once discovered, they should be sprayed with omethoate or malathion for prevention and control. If the situation is not serious, they can be captured manually.
