Strawberry planting time and method

Strawberry planting time and method

Strawberry planting time

Strawberries like to grow in a warm environment. If you want to plant strawberries, it is generally best to do it in July-August or March-April in spring. The climate at this time is more suitable, which is conducive to the germination and growth of strawberry seeds. If the planting time is not suitable, the strawberries will be difficult to germinate and grow poorly.

Strawberry Planting Methods

1. Sowing and seedling raising

Before planting strawberries, you should choose good quality seeds. It is best to soak them in advance for 8-12 hours to allow the seeds to absorb enough water. Then sow them in nutrient soil and cover them with a thin layer of soil. It does not need to be too thick, about 2-3 cm is enough. Water them appropriately to keep the soil slightly moist. This way, the strawberry seeds will germinate and grow soon.

2. Planting

When planting strawberries, provide loose, fertile, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Do not plant them in heavy clay or alkaline soil. Transplant the strawberry seedlings with 3-4 true leaves into the soil, then water them once to help them take root, so as to facilitate the rapid survival and growth of the strawberry seedlings.

Strawberry planting precautions

When caring for strawberries, they need to be exposed to sufficient light to facilitate photosynthesis. The temperature during the flower bud differentiation period needs to be maintained at 5-15°C, and the temperature during the stem and leaf growth period is best at around 25°C. It is also necessary to apply thin fertilizer to the strawberries regularly to meet the nutrients needed for their growth.
