Can azalea be grown hydroponically?

Rhododendron can be grown hydroponically, but the survival rate of hydroponically grown rhododendron is generally low, so most people still choose to grow rhododendron in soil. Soil-grown rhododendron can provide more abundant nutrients for rhododendron and improve its survival rate.

Azalea hydroponic cultivation method

1. Temperature: The suitable temperature for azalea growth is generally around 15℃-25℃. The highest temperature cannot exceed 32℃ and the lowest temperature cannot be lower than 5℃, otherwise it will stop growing.

2. Pruning: Pruning is an important measure for hydroponic cultivation of rhododendron. Pruning can regulate the growth and development of rhododendron, and can also detect diseases and pests of rhododendron in time for immediate treatment.

3. Container: For hydroponic azalea, you need to choose a suitable container. A 15-20 cm glass vase is the best. This will make it easier to observe whether the rhizomes of the azalea have diseases and pests, and it will also be easier to appreciate.

4. Nutrient solution: The pH value of the nutrient solution should be between pH 4.5-5.5, and the concentration should be diluted 3-5 times.

Precautions for hydroponic azalea

1. Water amount: Do not use too much water, generally about 50% of the rhizome is enough.

2. Water quality: It is best to choose purified water, or tap water that has been left standing for a period of time. Note that the water temperature should be consistent with the room temperature, which will be more conducive to the survival of azaleas.

3. Light: Hydroponic rhododendrons must be protected from direct sunlight, and shade measures must be taken in the summer.
