Can Purslane be grown hydroponically?

Purslane can be grown in hydroponics, which does not require much maintenance and is clean and simple. It grows fast and has good quality in the hydroponic nutrient solution. It can be harvested repeatedly once a year, and the nutrient solution can be replaced once after each harvest. If it is grown in soil, the soil, pots, and fertilizers need to be changed, which will make your hands very dry and is a waste of time.

Purslane hydroponic culture methods and key points

1. Selection : Observe whether the purslane is a healthy and vigorous plant. If there is a problem, it will be difficult for it to survive. If you find that there is a problem with the purslane you planted, the first thing you should do is to check whether the roots are rotten or intact.

2. Pruning : Cut at a 45° angle 1 to 3 mm below the growth point where the purslane will germinate. Try to trim along the germination point when cutting, keeping the direction consistent, which is more conducive to root growth.

3. Hydroponics : After trimming the purslane, leave the root part, clean it, and then soak it in clean water or nutrient solution. Put a wire mesh on it 10 to 20 mm above the water surface, and lay the purslane seedlings flat in the tray. The spacing is moderate.

4. Maintenance : After pruning, add a few drops of organic nutrient solution to the water and soak the plants in it. Remember to keep the plants away from light when the weather is hot. Do not expose them to direct sunlight after pruning and pay attention to ventilation.

Precautions for growing purslane in water

1. Purslane likes sunlight and grows best when the temperature difference between day and night is 10 degrees. Control the amount of watering and block the sunlight when the temperature is above 30 degrees.

2. Purslane likes high humidity. The temperature for germination is 18 degrees. It grows best between 20 and 30 degrees. It can be sown in batches above 20 degrees.
