How to cultivate succulent Qilin and what to pay attention to

Growth habits of succulent Qilin

The succulent Kirin likes a warm growing environment. The suitable growth temperature is between 22-28 degrees. It will enter a dormant period at 35 degrees. The wintering temperature is 5 degrees. It likes a sunny environment and should not be too shaded or exposed to the sun. It is best to provide diffuse light maintenance.

How to cultivate succulent Qilin

The succulent Qilin is suitable for planting in loose, fertile, well-drained sandy soil. It prefers sunlight and cannot be kept in a dark environment or exposed to strong light. It is best to provide diffuse light. It is better to water less and no water accumulation should occur.

Watering the Succulent Kirin

The succulent Kirin only needs to be watered about once or twice a week in summer. Water it when the soil is dry. If it is still moist, wait until the soil is completely dry before watering again. In winter, the watering can be gradually reduced to once a week depending on temperature changes. Remember not to allow water to accumulate.

Fertilizing succulent Qilin

The succulent Kirin plant itself does not like fertilizer, so fertilization should be done in small amounts and just enough. Do not fertilize the plant when the temperature is below twelve degrees. Apply a thin layer of fertilizer once a month.

Succulent Kirin Pruning

The leaves of the Kirin plant cannot be trimmed, whether it is a succulent Kirin plant or a jade Kirin plant, because if they are trimmed, there will be wounds, and it cannot automatically repair and seal itself. If the situation is serious, it will cause root rot, and it will be difficult to grow vigorously again in the future.

Cutting propagation of succulent Qilin

First, cut the healthy stem segments of the succulent Kirin as cuttings, place them in a well-ventilated place to dry, and then insert them into plain sand. Spray water after 2-3 days. After potting, water them thoroughly and keep them in a cool place for 7 days. After that, gradually increase the light and provide it with a growth environment of 22-28℃. It can safely overwinter if the temperature is above 7℃.

Precautions for caring for succulent Qilin

As the succulent plant grows gradually, the original pot is no longer large enough for its growth and the plant needs to be repotted about once a year. When repotting, you can slightly trim the rotten roots and cut off the yellow leaves to reduce nutrient loss and promote the healthy growth of the plant.
