What are the cultivation methods and precautions of Catharanthus roseus?

Introduction of Vinca roseus

Catharanthus roseus is a plant of the Apocynaceae family, also known as marigold, four-season spring, daily new, wild goose head red, and three thousand flowers. Common varieties include Xingxi, Blue Pearl, and Refrigerator. It is generally propagated by sowing, cuttings, and tissue culture.

Vinca roseus cultivation method

Catharanthus roseus likes a well-ventilated environment. If it is grown indoors, more windows need to be opened. It is also a sun-loving plant. It needs to be exposed to more light during its growing period to ensure sufficient sunlight. It is very afraid of waterlogging. Do not give it too much water during maintenance, otherwise it will affect its growth. In order to make it grow better, it needs to be fertilized once half a month during its growing period.

Watering method

When watering Catharanthus roseus, you must control the amount of water. It should not be too much or too little, otherwise it will be detrimental to its growth. You can wait until it is completely dry and then water it thoroughly. Remember not to water halfway.

Fertilization method

Catharanthus roseus cannot tolerate concentrated fertilizers. Fertilization can be done by adding thin water-soluble fertilizer every 7-10 days. In the cold winter, the amount of fertilizer should be relatively reduced. Fertilization also depends on the soil quality. If it is ordinary soil, some base fertilizer can be applied. If the soil is fertile, no base fertilizer is needed.

Pruning methods

Catharanthus roseus should be topped from the time it is seedling to before it blooms. This can promote the sprouting of more branches, control the plant height, and improve its ornamental value.

Precautions for Vinca Rose Cultivation

Although Catharanthus roseus prefers a relatively humid environment, it is also more prone to diseases in such an environment, so you should pay attention to regular ventilation to prevent it from getting sick. If it unfortunately gets sick, you need to spray some fungicide on the plant to sterilize it.
